My name is Brett Nixon. I am a science nut. This summer I've had the opportunity to assist on a research trip to Puerto Rico where I am helping with a study in El Yunque National Rainforest. It has truly been an experience of a lifetime. I've been down here since the 5th of July and will be back in Oklahoma on the 22nd. The research I've been helping with all has to deal with snails. Some of it has to do with canopy trimming experiments that are used to simulate what happens in the rainforest after a hurricane or other natural disaster and the other is a long term study that measures population abundance and habitat preference among snails among other things.
When I get back from Oklahoma its back to working on my own project which needs to be completed asap. It's a spider project. I am comparing the abundance of spiders within the woods and on a grassland plot and also looking at species diversity. Along with that, the project is being used to begin a library of spiders for Rogers State University.
